Did you enjoy the Timbers hospitality in Portland?

Did you miss the trip but heard about the great time we had?

Do you just generally enjoy a good time?

Are you a wet blanket and don't like good times ... but like to pretend you do?

If any of the above points apply to you then you should come out to Library Square after the match next Thursday for some drinks. The Timbers army have been invited and we have been assured both VIP* at the door and a great drink special.

Remember to bring your scarf ... or if you got drunk in portland and traded your scarf** then wear your southside pin ... to gain VIP* entry. If don't have your membership yet, get on it.

* Remember that VIP doesn't mean you can be a dick.
** If you traded your scarf or are thinking about it, we have another order coming in soon. Members will hopefully be able to buy replacements our first game in August.

I'm pretty sure Grandstander knew it was a joke. :)

As odd as it may seem to snuggle up to the TA, they showed incredible hospitality to us when we were down in Portland.  I had guys buying me drinks (no comments, please!), TA cuties chatting me up to know how we run things here in Vancouver, engage in mutual chants in the TA pubs, etc.  We really should reciprocate.

Doing this on a Thursday evening might not give us huge numbers (personally I won't be able to attend), but hopefully we can do this again on Saturday 2 October (which is the Cascadia Cup final and our last NASL/USL match... plus it ends at 4:00pm).

Things will be very different in MLS next year, so let's enjoy the Div 2 status while we still can.

  i'm glad to hear of this b/c it didn't quite seem this cozy after the last regular season match.  after the game (which we narrowly won) a lot of them on the first row were getting quite unruly and there was very nearly a fight.  lots of heated pushing and shoving but no swings taken.  its started with a couple TA girls yelling that the canucks sucked.  so this one guy turns and merely says 'canucks rule' and for some reason that was enough to set this one big guy off.  basically lunged at him and tried to goad him into something.  everyone piled in, yelling and swearing.. quite exciting, really.
but  of course it only takes one agitated drunk to see things escalate and it sure did there.
 so all that to be said.. glad to hear of the cross-border friendliness.

Yes there has been some shit in the past, and personally I was very angry when Wes had a beer thrown over him when he was getting ready to take a "flt"
Beaker & Harrison of course went down there last year with the two-sticks and came back unscathed.
There is always going to be the odd flare up, but to an extent it's up to us make sure none of our own step out of line, and I would imagine the TA feel the same way. If it is a non Southsider who starts something, that's unfortunate, but out of our control.

I was just making an observation as the TA used to get "ganged up on" somewhat by the Southsiders and ECS.

Better to have a somewhat tempered rivalry the a heated one.
