Now he's no longer a Cap I suppose this is the section to post in...
I see West Brom have loaned him to St Johnstone for the season. http://www.sportinglife.com/football/premiership/westbrom/news/story_get.dor?STORY_NAME=soccer/10/07/30/SOCCER_St_Johnstone.html&TEAMHD=westbrom Edited by Tractor Boy - 30-July-2010 at 14:14 |

Good for him. Anybody know what St. Johnstone's roster is like? Does he have a real shot a first team minutes? |

Yeah he should. He'll be replacing ex East Fife hero Kenny Deuchar as the big hit man in the squad, as Deuchs has gone to Falkirk and gone part time to concentrate on his other career as a doctor.
I would expect him to be on the bench initially but there's a really good shot he'll get starting.
I thought he'd be loaned out to League 2, so that's totally surprised me.

Here's an article on Marcus from the official Saints website
Good start for him. He's just scored for the Saints against Man United in a testimonial!

Surprised to hear that St. Johnstone sent a scout all the way out to Vancouver to check him out.

A Man Utd kids side. The first team are in North America.
Still a good result! |

A goal is a goal, and I doubt that Man Utd kids are that much different in skill level than the average players in our league

He is a good fit for an average to relegation battling side in the SPL.
The big thing here is that in the SPL there is a daft rule about having 3 players that are 21 or younger on the field or bench for every game... Which for the top teams essentially means they get 3 real subs choices instead of 4, (In the SPL you can dress 7 subs for selection including a mandatory keeper backup, which means 6 outfield players) having a contributor that is 21 or younger is a big thing in the SPL, and he fits the bill, should he be able to actually be consistent in a fairly average league in Europe. It will be really cool to see him draw in against either side of the Auld Firm, i will be watching the Gers v St johnstone matches this year now for sure! He scored again today.
How comes he didn't show this form for us? |

Good question. I would say that the quality of the best sides in USL is on a par with the bottom of the SPL. The others are more First Division.

The opposition today was Real Valladolid in a pre-season friendly. They got relegated last season from La Liga, but certainly I'd have thought most SPL teams would be better than the average USL player.
Still makes me wonder why he wasn't as prolific for us. Maybe he wasn't "up for it" ? |

He worked his ass off for us while he was here so maybe just one of those striker things. It is a very weird position and if everything isn't clicking right the ball doesn't go in. Good to see him making a go of it in the isles. So far, so good.
